WORSHIP & SERMONS

Sermon for August 16, 2015 - Revival: The Birth of Methodism

Here's the second sermon in our series on Methodism, referencing Adam Hamilton's book "Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It." Today, we discussed how John and Charles Wesley began taking their faith more seriously in college, forming a small group with their friends, practicing spiritual disciplines, studying together, and serving the needy.

Finally, I'm posting another sermon! Over the past year, I've recorded a fair number of my sermons, but I record less than I once did, since I rehearse a lot differently now that I preach without notes. Most of the older, recorded sermons you'll find here (and on iTunes) are from when I would record my early-Sunday-morning rehearsal of the manuscript.

Hello friends!
For a variety of reasons, I'm not able to podcast every sermon, but every worship service is videotaped and uploaded to YouTube (and put on a few DVDs for our homebound members). The sermon starts about 30 minutes into the service. The only downside to the video is that audio may not be as clear as in the podcasts. The upside: You get to watch the children's lesson, which is always a little random and humorous. Also, I've recently begun preaching without notes (i.e. without looking at a manuscript while talking), which I think makes the sermons better. See for yourself!

Here's a recent sermon from August 10, 2014, when I preached on Evolution, in a sermon series on Reconciling God, Science, & Nature. It was my first sermon preached entirely without notes. We start reading the scripture and preaching around the 40-minute mark.
